Black Eyes, Blue Tears….

Maybe that’s the name of a song or something, I dunno. Last week on Tuesday morning it was the attention-getter at our house. So I guess the making room for people that fall was left off my “make room for everybody” list. Yes we still have tile floors in the bathroom, no I haven’t invented rubber towel bars and door knobs and hooks yet, but I think that might be my million dollar idea. The guest bath that we just toured (look back a couple of posts) was the location. Tuesday morning first thing was the time. I had been in there to the restroom and as I stood up to walk out of the room, I just fell over, hitting either the towel bar or the door knob with my right eye, I am not sure which one. All I know is it hurt; Brandon came to my rescue, then he also called in to work and drove me around all day to the appointments I had because he was afraid I had a concussion.. Truthfully my face hasn’t hurt unless early on when I touched it (I also used essential oils on it and it has not hurt and healed much faster- yes that is my voodoo) but the question stands, how did it happen and how do I keep it from happening again?

According to the CDC, 1 out of 5 falls causes a serious injury such as a broken bone or head injury. A family friend actually passed away just yesterday from a fall that resulted in a broken neck. He was younger than me! Also, over 800,000 patients a year are hospitalized because of a fall injury, most often because of a head injury or hip fracture. If you want to know more about falls (they aren’t just for elderly people!) check out this link: https://www.cdc.gov/homeandrecreationalsafety/falls/adultfalls.html

Let’s work to make our houses safe for our tribes! Hopefully will work towards more posts, work is so busy, and I am gimp on a number of levels, so keeping up with the flow has me scrambling. Looking forward also to some local socially distanced traveling the next few weeks so will hopefully get to show you some of the good, bad, and the ugly of getting around for me these days! And yes, I am so tired of being extra.
